About the artist

Based in Marina del Rey, California, Todd C. Lovejoy is a visual artist working primarily in watercolor and oil, with a background in fine art photography. His work explores mood, form, and atmosphere, favoring intuitive mark-making and layered surfaces over literal narrative. Across mediums, Todd is drawn to moments of stillness—spaces where observation and emotion quietly intersect.

Todd’s artistic practice is informed by a wide range of life experiences. A proud Father, Grandfather, and U.S. Military Veteran, his path to the arts followed a long career in public service. The discipline and structure of that earlier life now give way to a more contemplative studio practice, one focused on presence, curiosity, and creative discovery rather than representation.

In his paintings, Todd embraces the physicality of watercolor and oil, allowing the materials themselves to guide the work. Color, texture, and negative space play a central role, with subjects emerging organically rather than being imposed. While traces of landscape and environment may appear, the work resists specificity, inviting viewers to bring their own interpretations and emotional responses.

Todd’s work is collected for its quiet strength and sense of intimacy. Whether through painting or select photographic pieces, his art reflects a commitment to exploration, craftsmanship, and the enduring power of visual expression.
